Schools Out!!!

Boarding School Spring 2011 is over!!!! Since no one officially enrolled there is no one on the Starz List or Dean's List. I decided that I will be changing some of the rules for the Summer 2011 Semester of Boarding School. Stay tuned to find out.

Saturday I will be getting a relaxer so my results for this Challenge and using my regimen.

As of right now it's summer. Let your hair down and enjoy it. Classes will start again in 3 weeks. The official start date will be posted soon.

For all those who participated but did not enroll you are all winners for taking the initiative in taking care of your hair!

9 Weeks Post Relaxer

Hello Ladies!

Today makes me 9 weeks post relaxer. This past week I measured my new growth but my hair is still in braids under this wig, so the measurements may not be completely accurate. When I redo my braids I will take more precise measurements.

Two months of growth and my hair is shy of 1 inch. So this means that I should have grown out the trim I got in December. Hopefully my hair is back to the length it was before all the split ends and 1-inch cut. I am very proud of my hair right now!!

But at the same time I am so disappointed in myself. I haven't totally been sticking to my Boarding School Schedule. I have been slacking on water and haven't exercised. I know, I know! As Head Mistress I should be on top of everything but exams and studying is just getting in the way. School is getting in the way of the health of my hair, so I need to simplify my regimen even more. I am planning on changing some of the products I use, but I'm still doing research on what exactly I want. I just may go back to using many of the products I did at the very start of my journey.

At that time my hair seemed to love those products more than it does the products I use now. I just feel as if I am at a plateau, another reason why I restarted my Healthy Hair Journey. I need to find products that my hair likes and not just use what many of the other girls are using. Trial and Error.

Protective Style

Hello my beautiful ladies!!!

As you know I am participating in my Boarding School Challenge. And as part of this challenge I decided to wear my hair in protective style for the rest of this month. I made a wig using Sensationnel Premium Too hair and I think it came out very nice.

This wig is a great protective style because I will be able to remove it daily and moisturize my hair and scalp. It will also be a lot easier to do because my hair is in cornrows. The only difficult part would be washing my hair while in the braids because I have never done that before. I want to keep my hair like this until around the second week of March because that is when I have spring break and will be going home. That is when I will decide if I will be getting a relaxer or wearing another wig. But first, we will see how this current month will go.

For the regimen I will be using check out the Regimen Page.

Update

[NOTE: This was written on Thursday January 13, 2011]

Hey Beauties!

This isn't going to be a long post because I am reading for my Ethnobotany class. I wanted to come and give you an update about how Boarding School and my new regimen are going.

Well I haven't been moisturizing and sealing as often as I would like. Even though the semester just started, school is getting in the way of my healthy hair journey; I now need to find a balance for everything.

I have been drinking water and tea, but i haven't worked out this week. Hopefully I'll be able to tomorrow night.

As for my regimen, last night was the first cowash. While I was washing my hair it felt so soft. I am absolutely loving VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream. I'm addicted to the smell and want to eat it every time I open the bottle. I used my Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in, sealed with Hair Plus Natural Product Oil, did a wet bun, wrapped my hair in a satin cap and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning my har was still a little damp so I took the bun down to let it finish air drying.

Then I did my protective style for the day. I made a French braid from the top of my left ear to the bottom right of my head. I made a side fishtail pony with some tracked hair and curled my bang on the lowest setting. It looks very cute and I will most likely bee leaving it in for the next few days.

Good night ladies and be good.

Boarding School is officially in session!

It is the official start of Boarding School Spring 2011. You can find all the information regarding this challenge on the Challenge Page. When the challenge has officially ended you will be able to find the information here.

I'm sorry excited for this challenge. I think it is exactly what I needed to get back on my HHJ! Like I said this morning, I needed to find some type of inspiration and I did. It was an old challenge on Hairlista called the Long Hair Academy. This inspired me to create my very own challenge that would be easy enough for me to do but at the same time give me great results. I guess you can say the Long Hair Academy is the big sister to Boarding School, lol.

Since this is my first challenge, and first time being Head Mistress, I know there are a lot that I can improve on for the fall semester. I hope you all join and we have a wonderful journey together.
-------------------------------------------------------
As part of the challenge we are supposed to moisturize and seal daily. So today I just did a damp bun and allowed my hair to air dry fully. Now I am going to take down my bun to oil and massage my scalp for about 10 minutes. When finished I will put it back into a bun and put on my satin cap so my hair is protected while lounging around the house. If I need to leave the house for any reason my hair will already be done.
