Hair Update

Hey Beauties!

For the past month I've had my hair in crochet twist. I love the look and am constantly getting compliments. Everyone thinks it's either my real hair or that I'm dreading up my hair. And for 11 weeks post I have a decent amount of new growth. I'll actually post a picture of my hair in a few weeks when I get my hands on a better camera.

I haven't really been following a regimen since having these twist in. All I've been doing it oiling my scalp with either Castor Oil or Coconut Oil when needed and spritzing my new growth whenever needed. I've run out of my MSM supplements and noticed that my new growth is extremely hard. I know it's not dry but it feels that way, but I guess it's because that is the natural texture of my hair. The MSM supplements really did change my hair texture but for the better.

This past Friday I washed the top part of my hair because I felt like I had a lot of build up. It is also the easiest to clean because that is were the individual twist are located. The rest of my hair is in a zigzag pattern and the twist are crocheted into the braids. After washing I sprayed my new growth with a mixture of my Garnier Leave-In Conditioner and drinking water. I then sealed it with Coconut Oil.

I can't wait until I can take these twist out and get my relaxer. I feel like I haven't seen my hair since my May relaxer because I have been wearing protective styles almost every day. I have no idea where my hair is right now and maybe that is a good thing.

French Twist Out

Hey beauties!!

How are all of you doing? Well I hope.

My hair was feeling a bit dry so I decided to cowash yesturday and instead of doing a damp bun I decided to do a twist out and I really love the results!!!! But before I get into my protective style I wanted to tell you that I bought 3 new products yesturday: LeKair Cholesterol, Garnier Fructis Leave-in Conditioning Cream, and Castor Oil.

The past week I also bout a jar of Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I absolutely love the smell and it makes me want to eat it!!!!! I leave the jar in the freezer bu I don't have to deal with defrosting it all the time because I put some in a small jar and leave that in my bathroom so it has liquified and is much easier to use.

Now on to my Protective Style. I've decided to call it the "French Twist Out." It is basically a Twist Out with a French Braid. I really love this style and I will be doing it more often. This protective style along with the method used during my Co-wash was the first time I've done it. I want to document every step of the way in my Healthy Hair Journey, whether good or bad, so that is why I made a video.

Yarn Twists Update

Hey beauties!

Today I am 15 weeks and 3 days post relaxer (my ticker is saying that I am 3 months 2 weeks and 4 days post but it all means the same, just in different measurements). I have been wearing my Yarn Twists for the past 3 weeks. I am really loving them. This is my first time doing my own yarn twist -- the first time I ever did them was in my mother's hair -- and might I say they came out very nice. I am very picky about how my hair needs to come out so of course they had to look decent. I am still getting compliments about my twist, some people didn't even know it was yarn and other's have never seen yarn used to make twists instead of braids.

All I have been doing is daily spritzing my scalp with Sta-Sof-Fro and at least once a week applying my grease/oil mixture after moisturizing. I have also been taking my One-A-Day Vitamins and MSM supplement. I feel like the MSM is really aiding the growth process of my hair, but we will have to just see once I get my relaxer is approximately 5 weeks. OOOOoooo I CAN'T WAIT!!!! My new growth feels oh so curly and hydrated! I can't seem to keep my hands out of my hair! LOL, sounds funny since most of my hair is actually put away.

School has been so hectic so I have yet to wash my hair. It doesn't itch or smell bad thanks to the help of Sta-Sof-Fro. Actually my praise team director complimented me by saying that I smelled good. I didn't have any body lotion or spray on so it had to be my hair. And yarn is a cloth material so it will hold on to the scent of whatever is put into my hair. Good thing I love the smell of Sta-Sof-Fro!!!

Protective Style

Hello my beautiful ladies!!!

As you know I am participating in my Boarding School Challenge. And as part of this challenge I decided to wear my hair in protective style for the rest of this month. I made a wig using Sensationnel Premium Too hair and I think it came out very nice.

This wig is a great protective style because I will be able to remove it daily and moisturize my hair and scalp. It will also be a lot easier to do because my hair is in cornrows. The only difficult part would be washing my hair while in the braids because I have never done that before. I want to keep my hair like this until around the second week of March because that is when I have spring break and will be going home. That is when I will decide if I will be getting a relaxer or wearing another wig. But first, we will see how this current month will go.

For the regimen I will be using check out the Regimen Page.

Update

[NOTE: This was written on Thursday January 13, 2011]

Hey Beauties!

This isn't going to be a long post because I am reading for my Ethnobotany class. I wanted to come and give you an update about how Boarding School and my new regimen are going.

Well I haven't been moisturizing and sealing as often as I would like. Even though the semester just started, school is getting in the way of my healthy hair journey; I now need to find a balance for everything.

I have been drinking water and tea, but i haven't worked out this week. Hopefully I'll be able to tomorrow night.

As for my regimen, last night was the first cowash. While I was washing my hair it felt so soft. I am absolutely loving VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream. I'm addicted to the smell and want to eat it every time I open the bottle. I used my Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in, sealed with Hair Plus Natural Product Oil, did a wet bun, wrapped my hair in a satin cap and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning my har was still a little damp so I took the bun down to let it finish air drying.

Then I did my protective style for the day. I made a French braid from the top of my left ear to the bottom right of my head. I made a side fishtail pony with some tracked hair and curled my bang on the lowest setting. It looks very cute and I will most likely bee leaving it in for the next few days.

Good night ladies and be good.

What Did I Do?

Hey Beauties!

Wednesday night I had dance practice, but didn't feel like putting my hair up in a bun or pony tail. So instead I took a few hair pins and pinned it up into a curly Mohawk type thing. These are heat-less curls and oohh so pretty!! After moisturizing and sealing my hair I bun it up into four sections using Melyssah's Signature Bun. I've been doing that every night this past week so that is why the curls look the way they do.

SEXI BUN < 3

Hey guys. Here is a video of this sexi bun that was posted on Sunshyne's blog, that you can find at http://hairlicious.blogspot.com/2008/12/melyssahs-signature-bun.html

I am loving the bun and felt that I should share it . I would so do this bun but my hair isn't long enough yes so it won't look nice. Instead I am going to moisturize my ends and seal with Hollywood Tea Tree Oil, do this bun, wrap a satin cloth around my head and go to sleep. I really can't sleep right now though. That is why I'm on the internet for such a long time surfing through haircare stuff.
