Changes

Hello Beauties!!!

I have been going through a few changes with my hair. When I had my May Relaxer I noticed thinning in the bottom half of my hair, which became much more visible after my August Relaxer. From September all the way through November I wore wigs that I made. I got my 3rd and final relaxer for 2011 the day for Thanks Giving and the thinning isn't as noticeable as before but I gained NO LENGTH. I guess my hair decided to try to fill in the thin spot.

I've decided to make changes to how I am taking care of my hair because what I have been doing isn't helping as much as I would hope.
  1. Relax my hair more frequently (I'm still trying to transition to texlaxed hair)
  2. No more posting a regimen. Instead at the end of the month I will be posting a calendar of what I did (for the most part) during the month. This is to help me figure out what is working and what isn't working, so that way when I do have a new regimen it will be BOMB.
  3. Participating in more challenges that others made up and are heading. (I would love to participate in Hairlista Challenges but the site isn't working for me. Instead I will be participating in more Black Hair Plant Challenges since it was the first site I joined when I started taking care of my hair.)
Because it is finals week I have not had the time to edit pictures to post to the blog. Those will be up soon along with my Relaxer Update and the November 2011 Calendar.

Update

Hello Beauties!

I hope Boarding School is going well. We have a new classmate and her name is Kiki.

My updates:
Well I haven't been taking my vitamins and exercising like I should have because school has been a hassle since starting back up. I just need to make a daily schedual of everything that needs to get done because I follow timed scheduals very well.

It's been a little over a month since my second relaxer of 2011 and my hair has grown a bit. I've actually starting using a whipped shea butter mix I made to moisturize my hair. My new growth feels wonderfully soft but I actually don't think my hair is being moisturized. So I am probably going to start co-washing my hair more while using this and spritzing my hair with filtered water. If you are wondering why I stopped using my Garnier Fructise Leave-in Conditioner to moisturize my hair that is because I ran out. So I was forced to buy the Cream of Nature Leave-in but I'm not sure if I like it since it contains petrolatum, which I believe is a derivitive of petrolium. I'll write a review on it after using it for a bit longer.

At the moment I am reevaluating my regimen. I will be adding an removing different products and techniques. I hope my hair still decides to respond well.

Hair Update

Hey Beauties!

For the past month I've had my hair in crochet twist. I love the look and am constantly getting compliments. Everyone thinks it's either my real hair or that I'm dreading up my hair. And for 11 weeks post I have a decent amount of new growth. I'll actually post a picture of my hair in a few weeks when I get my hands on a better camera.

I haven't really been following a regimen since having these twist in. All I've been doing it oiling my scalp with either Castor Oil or Coconut Oil when needed and spritzing my new growth whenever needed. I've run out of my MSM supplements and noticed that my new growth is extremely hard. I know it's not dry but it feels that way, but I guess it's because that is the natural texture of my hair. The MSM supplements really did change my hair texture but for the better.

This past Friday I washed the top part of my hair because I felt like I had a lot of build up. It is also the easiest to clean because that is were the individual twist are located. The rest of my hair is in a zigzag pattern and the twist are crocheted into the braids. After washing I sprayed my new growth with a mixture of my Garnier Leave-In Conditioner and drinking water. I then sealed it with Coconut Oil.

I can't wait until I can take these twist out and get my relaxer. I feel like I haven't seen my hair since my May relaxer because I have been wearing protective styles almost every day. I have no idea where my hair is right now and maybe that is a good thing.

Boarding School Fall 2011

Hey beauties!

The fall session of Boarding School is right around the corner. This time around there will be some changes but I will still be your Head Mistress.

Rules
Each time a class is missed you will receive one penalty point. The top 5% of students who receive the least amount of points will be put on the Head Mistress' Starz List, while the top 5% of students who had the greatest hair improvement and participation will be put on the Head Mistress' Dean's List. Participation Points will come from biweekly check-ins, and participation in mini challenges. These Participation Points will counteract the penalty points that you may receive.

Last Day of Registration:
August 21, 2011

Classes Begin:
August 22, 2011

Classes End:
December 2, 2011

Final Exams:
December 3, 2011 – December 9, 2011
  • During Finals you will be voting for those you feel had the greatest improvement in their hair. Your votes will be used in consideration of who is put on my Dean's List.
Your Schedule:
  • Moisturize and Seal hair daily
  • Drink at least five cups of water daily. Your water intake may come from tea.
  • Shampoo hair with a moisturizing shampoo when needed. A sulfate free shampoo is preferred and 1 extra credit point will be awarded.
  • Do a Protein Treatment at least once a month
  • Do a Deep Moisturizing Conditioning Treatment at least once a week
  • Pre-poo before every shampoo. Your moisturizing deep conditioning treatment will be counted as a pre-poo as long as it is done on dry or slightly dampened hair before shampooing occurs.
  • Wear a protective/low manipulation style at least three times a week
  • Massage the scalp no less than three times a week with a growth aid or oil.
  • Keep hair protected every night
  • Do the Green House Effect at least twice a week
  • At least 60 minutes of personal fitness throughout the week. 10 minutes a day will count as long as you are increasing your heart rate and getting the blood to pump. The more you exercise the more nutrient rich blood can flow through your body and reach your scalp.
  • Multivitamins or any other supplements, like MSM and biotin, must be taken every day.
Hall Passes:
  • One trim/cut the entire semester
  • One relaxer or any other chemical process the entire semester.
  • Direct Heat only twice a month (You may use a hooded dryer but at your own judgment)
NOTE:
  • Penalty points will be awarded if you use up more than the allowed Hall Passes.
  • Enough room is given to allow you to use your current regimen along with this challenge.
  • Because you are only allowed one chemical process, any other chemical processes that you may want to undergo should be done before the semester starts. However use caution in between the applications as to not break your protein bonds down too much that it causes damage or thin hair.
